HOHHOT, November 5 (ChinaMil) -- Chang Wanquan, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC), state councilor and minister of national defense of the People's Republic of China (PRC), investigated frontier defense and national defense mobilization work in north China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region from October 30 to November 4, 2013.

During the investigation tour, Chang Wanquan went to frontier defense companies and front-line sentry posts from eastern grasslands and pastoral areas to western Gobi deserts to inspect frontier defense infrastructure and visit militiamen as well as officers and men.

Chang Wanquan stressed that Inner Mongolia, boasting of vast land and long borderline, undertakes a special mission of consolidating border defense, stabilizing three northern areas (northeast, north and northwest China) and guarding Beijing and Tianjin, and therefore, it is imperative for leaders at all levels to be well aware of the significance of frontier defense and national defense mobilization work.

Leaders of the Beijing Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Inner Mongolia autonomous region participated in the investigation.
