BEIJING, May 21, (ChinaMil) -- Fang Fenghui, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), held talks with Paulino Macaringue, the visiting chief of general staff of the Defense Forces of Mozambique, on the afternoon of May 20, 2013 in Beijing.
Fang Fenghui said that the people of China and Mozambique share profound traditional friendship. The relations between the Chinese and Mozambican militaries have shown momentum of sustainable and stable development in recent years as evidenced by fruitful exchanges and cooperation in various fields.
Fang Fenghui expressed that the Chinese side is willing to work together with the Mozambican side to further develop the friendly and cooperative relations between the two militaries, maintain reciprocal visits of delegations and groups, and expand the pragmatic cooperation in such fields as military education, personnel training, troops' training, equipment technology and so on, so as to uplift the bilateral friendly relations to a new high.
Macaringue said that the Mozambican side attaches great importance to the traditional Mozambique-China friendship and always adheres to the one-China policy. The Chinese side has always offered strong support and help to Mozambique, for which the Mozambican side is very grateful.
Macaringue also said that in recent years, the Mozambican and Chinese militaries have carried out good cooperation in such fields as personnel training and the United Nations peacekeeping operation. The Mozambican side is willing to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to further expand the exchanges and cooperation between the two militaries.
Before the talks, Fang Fenghui held a welcome ceremony for Macaringue and accompanied him to review the guard of honor of the three services of the PLA.
