Fan Changlong and Xu Qiliang participate in group discussions of PLA delegation to NPC

Fan Changlong and Xu Qiliang, deputies of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) to the First Session of the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), members of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the CPC, participated in the group discussions of the PLA delegation to the First Session of the 12th NPC.

Fan Changlong said in his speech that the report on the work of the government delivered by Wen Jiabao, premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China (PRC), fully affirmed the achievements and progress in the construction of national defense and the armed forces in the past five years and made the demands on strengthening construction of national defense and the armed forces. The PLA and the Chinese People's Armed Police Force (APF) should strive to create a new situation in military construction and military struggle preparation, and make contributions to completing the strategic tasks entrusted by the 18th CPC National Congress.

In his speech, Xu Qiliang stressed that it is imperative to accelerate the modernization of national defense and the armed forces, keep a close eye on the evolution of forefront of the revolution in military affairs, warfare form and combat mode, keep pace with the times to strengthen the guidance on military strategies, constantly expand and deepen military struggle preparation, strengthen the building of new-type combat forces and raise the actual-combat level in troop units' military training at a new starting point.
