Qi Jianguo, deputy chief of general staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Hassanov, director of the International Military Cooperation Bureau under the Defense Ministry of Tajikistan, on February 25, 2013 in Beijing.
Qi Jianguo said that China and Tajikistan are friendly neighbors and the two militaries have smooth and effective cooperation in bilateral fields and multilateral fields, such as the cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). The Chinese side is delighted by Tajikistan's social stability, economic growth and increasingly improved living standards of the people, and is willing to make joint efforts with the Tajik side to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as high-level contacts, personnel training, border management and control, and joint drill of the two militaries and maintain regional peace and stability.
Hassanov said that the Tajik side is sincerely grateful to the Chinese side for its support and assistance. The relations between the two countries and the two militaries have been maintaining a good momentum of development in recent years. The Tajik side is willing to work together with the Chinese side to make new contributions to developing good neighborly and friendly relations between the two countries and consolidating regional peace and stability.
