Ma Xiaotian, member of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and commander of the Air Force of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), met with Soe Win, the visiting deputy commander-in-chief of the Myanmar Defense Force and commander of the Myanmar Army, on the afternoon of November 15, 2012 in the Air Force Headquarters of the PLA.
Ma Xiaotian first gave a briefing on the just-concluded 18th CPC National Congress and the situation relating to China's social and economic development since the reform and opening-up, and expressed his willingness to share development experience with the people of Myanmar.
He said that as friendly neighbors sharing a long border line, China and Myanmar have similar national conditions, and to maintain friendly cooperation is in the fundamental interests of their people. No matter how the international situation changes, leaders of the two countries and their militaries always attach great importance to the traditional friendship between the two countries and the two militaries.
\The two air forces raised the curtain on their friendly cooperation as early as 1980s, and have so far carried out fruitful cooperation in such fields as equipment, technology and personnel training. It is hoped that the two sides will make positive effort to further develop the traditional friendly and cooperative relations between the two air forces, Ma added.
\Soe Win expressed that the Myanmar side attaches great importance to Myanmar-China traditional friendship, and is willing to continue to maintain and strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two militaries, especially that between the two air forces, constantly expand exchanges in various fields and promote the friendly and cooperative relations that have already existed between the two sides to a new high.
