ZHENGZHOU, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Local organization departments have been ordered by senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Liu Yunshan to strictly follow set principles and rules to ensure corruption-free selections of new officials.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during an inspection tour in central China's Henan Province from May 17 to 20.

"Lax in 'manifest rules' would bring market for 'hidden rules'," Liu said.

Organizational authorities, who are in charge of issues concerning the selection of officials, shall strictly implement relevant regulations and "adopt a good work style to select people with a good work style," he said.

"No exception shall be made and rules shall not be compromised," Liu said, stressing that officials should not seek personal gains under the guise of "promoting people by breaking conventions."

He vowed no leniency on violations when it comes to Party disciplines in selecting officials, saying each case identified would be dealt with strictly.

During his inspection, Liu visited historical sites relating to China's revolution, as well as villages and companies in Henan.

He urged CPC organizations at grass root level to improve their capabilities to better serve the public.
