Chinese leaders thankful for congratulations on election, endorsement

BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) -- President and Central Military Commission Chairman Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, top legislator Zhang Dejiang, top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng and Vice President Li Yuanchao have expressed thanks for the congratulations they have received concerning their respective endorsements or elections that took place at last month's parliamentary sessions.

The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the Central Military Commission of China and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) issued statements of gratitude on behalf of the leaders on Monday.

Heads of states, governments and parliaments, chiefs of political parties and international organizations, organizations and personages friendly to China and foreign ambassadors to China, as well as overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, sent messages congratulating the leaders, according to the statements.

Xi Jinping was elected president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, Li Keqiang was appointed as premier, Zhang Dejiang was elected chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, and Li Yuanchao was elected vice president, at the first plenary session of the 12th NPC.

Yu Zhengsheng was elected chairman of the National Committee of CPPCC at the first plenary session of the 12th National Committee of the CPPCC.
