14th Chinese naval escort taskforce starts first round of in-port rest and replenishment

The "Harbin" guided missile destroyer of the 14th escort taskforce under the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) sailed into the Port of Salalah in Salalah City, the second largest city of the Sultanate of Oman, for its two-day-long in-port rest and replenishment at 06:30 on March 28, 2013.

The other two warships of the escort taskforce, the "Mianyang" guided missile frigate and the "Weishan Lake" comprehensive supply ship, will also have their turns to have in-port rest and replenishment in the Port of Salalah respectively. This is the first round of in-port rest and replenishment of the 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce since it undertook the escort mission.

Mao Qingwen, counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Oman, and other persons concerned boarded and visited the "Harbin" guided missile destroyer in the morning and had a brief exchange with the officers and men of the Chinese taskforce. Yuan Yubai, commander of the taskforce, extended his warm welcome and sincere thanks to the visitors on behalf of the 14th Chinese naval escort taskforce and briefed them the escort mission of the taskforce.

It is learned that during the in-port rest and replenishment, the Chinese naval ship is scheduled to conduct equipment maintenance and living material replenishment including vegetables and fruits. Meanwhile, the "Mianyang" guided missile frigate and the "Weishan Lake" comprehensive supply ship will continue to carry out the escort mission.
