Sun Zhengcai appointed Party chief of Chongqing

Sun Zhengcai is elected as member of the Political Bureau of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Nov. 15, 2012. (Xinhua)

BEIJING, Nov. 20 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Dejiang will no longer hold the post as secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), according to a decision by the CPC Central Committee.

Sun Zhengcai has been appointed secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee.

Zhang Dejiang, born in November 1946, is currently a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and vice premier of the State Council.

Sun Zhengcai, born in September 1963, is currently a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, and secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee.
