The organizing committee of the 2014 Incheon Asian Games told media on Tuesday that South Korea's pop group JYJ will act as the grand continental event's publicity ambassador.

"We hope JYJ's international fame will help increase Asian people's awareness of the Incheon Asian Games and make the event a success," said Kim Young-soo, the president of the organizing committee.

JYJ is a three-member boy band, who traveled 15 big cities across the country from 2011 to 2012 on a concert tour and drew an audience of 210,000 in total.

The Incheon Asian Games are slated on Sept. 19-Oct. 4, 2014, featuring 36 events and being expected to attract some 20,000 athletes and officials from 45 countries and regions of Asia.
