BEIJING, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Minister of Culture Cai Wu said Friday that the management of public museums, libraries, cultural centers and theaters should be enhanced.
The minister criticized the construction of cultural centers in places far from residential areas, as well as running libraries and cultural centers without adequate books or facilities.
However, Cai said more than 28 percent of county-level libraries and about 32 percent of cultural centers are outmoded, as they were built before 1990.
Cai said poor management is another major problem in addition to outdated infrastructure.
The minister called for public cultural facilities to be run in a way that is more service-oriented and more accessible for the public.
