SHANGHAI, July 4 (Xinhua) -- Three people were killed and four others injured when a factory building under construction collapsed on Thursday afternoon in Shanghai, local authorities said.
The accident occurred around 5 p.m. within a factory in Pudong New Area, sources with the city's work safety watchdog said.
Witnesses said the one-story building collapsed after a beam, lifted by a crane, crashed onto it.
The injured have been sent to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Further investigation into the cause of the accident is under way.
