Host Myanmar to provide free Wi-Fi for 27th SEA Games

YANGON, July 26 (Xinhua) -- Host Myanmar will provide Wi-Fi free zones in Yangon and Ngwe Saung beach during the upcoming 27th Southeast Asian Games to be held in December, local media reported Friday.

The services are provided by RedLink Communications Company of Myanmar which has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Cisco Systems Company Ltd from Thailand in Yangon this month, said the Daily Eleven.

From the preparatory period before the Games till its closing, the free services will be offered in sport facilities such as Thuwunna Sports Training Ground, Thuwunna Stadium, North Dagon shooting sports facility, Theinphyu Sports Ground, Myanmar Convention Center in Yangon and seaside resort of Ngwe Saung, the report said.

Meanwhile, about 5,000 athletes from 11 countries are expected to take part in the SEA Games from Dec. 11-22 in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, Mandalay and Ngwe Saung Beach.

According to the estimated lists sent from participating nations, Malaysia boasts the largest number with 838 athletes, followed by host country with 828, Thailand with 827, Indonesia with 695, Vietnam with 693, Singapore with 550, the Philippines with 446 and Laos with 388.

In this year's SEA Games, 33 sports events will be put in the list and 460 gold medals will be awarded.
