HONG KONG, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Hong Kong's Secretary for Transport and Housing Anthony Cheung Bing-leung Monday signed an Air Services Agreement on behalf of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) with the Government of the Republic of Seychelles.
Representing the Government of the Republic of Seychelles to sign the Agreement was the Minister of Finance, Trade and Investment of the Republic of Seychelles, Pierre Laporte.
The Agreement provides a legal framework for establishing air links between Hong Kong and Seychelles, which will promote economic development and cultural exchanges between the two places.
"The Government of the HKSAR welcomes the Agreement, which is the 62nd signed in Hong Kong. It is in the mutual interest of Hong Kong and Seychelles to establish direct air links between the two places," said Cheung at the signing ceremony.
"With the signing of the Agreement, we look forward to forging closer trade, economic and cultural relations with Seychelles. It is in line with our policy of progressive liberalization in air services between Hong Kong and our aviation partners," he added.
