BANJUL, June 24 (Xinhua) -- Gambian President Yahya Jammeh will join his African counterparts in Senegal to meet U. S. President Barack Obama, who will kick off his tour to Africa on June 26.
The Gambian leader will leave Banjul International Airport on Wednesday morning, a presidential source told Xinhua on Monday.
Obama will pay his first visit to Senegal since assuming office. His African trip will also take him to South Africa and Tanzania.
Key issues on his agenda include war against terror in Africa's sub-region and strong trade between the United States and African countries.
The United States have already slapped sanctions on Hezbollah operatives in four West African nations including Gambia, Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire and Sierra Leone.
The U. S. government established a trade relationship with Africa known as AGOA in 2000 to promote economic ties with the sub- Saharan region of the continent.
