Army plane crashes in central Pakistan, pilot safe

ISLAMABAD, July 11 (Xinhua)-- Pakistan army's trainer plane with one pilot on board crashed in the country's central town of Isa Khel on Thursday morning, but the pilot remained safe, said the army.

Inter Services Public Relations, the mouthpiece of Pakistan army, said that an F7 Thunder plane encountered some technical problems while flying over the Kullar area of Isa Khel, a main district in the country's eastern Punjab province.

The pilot, Flight Lieutenant Taha, was on his routine to fulfill a training mission when the plane crashed. But he bailed out successfully, said the report.

Security forces rushed to the crash site and cordoned off the area.

Pakistan has a fleet of aircrafts, including F-7PGs and A-5s, US-built F-16s and French Mirages. It recently acquired medium- tech JF-17 or Thunder jets manufactured jointly by China and Pakistan.
