ISLAMABAD, May 29 (Xinhua) -- Newly elected members of Pakistani provincial assemblies of northwestern Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP) and southern Sindh provinces on Wednesday took oath of their membership for the next five years, local media reported.

In the Khyber Paktunkhwa (KP) Assembly out of 124 newly-elected members, 123 took oath. Outgoing Speaker Kiramatullah Khan administered the oath to the newly-elected members.

In the province, Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) won the highest number of seats in the May 11 elections.

Earlier, PTI, Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) had finalised a formula over the formation of government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to which JI and QWP are to get three ministries each, whereas, PTI would hold the positions of chief minister and speaker in the province.

Moreover, the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) announced it would sit on KP's opposition benches.

Meanwhile newly elected members of Sindh Assembly also took oath of their membership. Sindh Assembly speaker Nisar Khuhro administered the oath to the newly-elected members.

The members took oath to represent the people of their respective constituencies in the house for the next five years.

Of the 130 general seats, elections were held in 128 constituencies. However, results of 120 lawmakers have been notified and they will take the oath in the maiden session.
