Over to New York, where geeks are freaking, now that a life-sized Star Wars X-wing fighter made entirely of Lego has touched down in Times Square. Calling it the largest Lego model in the world, organizers say it kicks off a brand new mini-series centering around one of the franchise’s mightiest little characters.

For Lego, the The Star Wars line is its most popular collection of toys. And Star Wars fans are out in force in Times Square for the unveiling of the largest Lego model in the world, a 43-foot-long X-wing fighter.

Master builder Erik Varszegi, who was in charge of creating the 46,000 pound model, described what went into making this record-breaking creation.
