Yu Yaxiong was born in Nanjing, Jiangsu in 1985 and has learning difficulties.

After graduating from a special school, Yu was recommended by a training agency to a Wal-Mart supermarket chain store. He is now a tally clerk there. His work allows him to take care of his aged mother and provides him with a stable income.
