HANGZHOU, May 18 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Saturday met with Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras in Hangzhou, capital of east China's Zhejiang Province.
The meeting came ahead of the second annual conference of the World Cultural Forum (Taihu, China), which began in Hangzhou on Saturday.
Yu, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, reviewed the profound friendship between Chinese and Greeks.
He highlighted the good opportunities in China-Greece cooperation, saying China would like to work with Greece to increase strategic communication, deepen trade and investment cooperation, expand people-to-people exchanges and boost the comprehensive strategic partnership.
The political advisor reaffirmed the importance placed by the Chinese government on building ecological culture, saying it is of great significance for this conference to focus on increasing international cooperation in this regard.
China would like to communicate with all other countries to discuss ways of cooperating to speed up the building of ecological civilization.
Samaras said Greece and China have both played important roles in boosting human civilization and respected and got on well with each other.
He said Greece welcomes more Chinese businesses to invest in the country and would like to work more closely with China in ecological culture and other fields in a bid to seek better growth in bilateral relations.
Samaras is paying an official visit to China from May 15-19 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang.
