On April 20, the officers and men of a army aviation brigade under the Chengdu Military Area Command (MAC) of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) transport the relief supplies.

2. Military helicopters

The military helicopters are referred to as the "lucky birds” by people in the quake-hit regions, because they bring hope to people in disaster areas. These "lucky birds" also shoulder the important task of transporting the wounded away from the disaster area.

After the earthquake, the original steep and rugged roads were destroyed, so a large-scale transportation tasks performed by helicopters is particularly important. The good performance of the "Black Hawk" helicopter made it able to fly at high altitudes in the relief mission.
