Not just being platform with love, networks can also be a powerful practical support. During rescue and reconstruction, self-organizing forces are indispensable. Although there are those blindly rushed to the disaster area and caused traffic jam, primary relief such as bringing victims instant noodles and mineral water during the Wenchuan earthquake has been replaced by setting up professional rescue team and raising urgently needed supplies. The Internet plays the important role in arousing public attention, information aggregation, and resources integration. Moreover, the fact that people join hands together to get through disaster itself is the most powerful force of China.
Of course, micro media era demonstrated the positive energy of uniting the people in the face of disaster, but also exposed its obvious defects, such as numerous false information and hostility mood. For example, after a piece of disaster relief information was published, a charitable organization that has been in deep crisis of confidence suffered swamp of rude negative responses. In the face of disaster, one can have a different opinion, but facing extreme circumstances, perhaps we should put aside extreme and prejudice, and unite more relief force.
The rescue has not yet ended, and the reconstruction, which will be more difficult, has not yet begun. When moral passion fades, we need continuous contribution in daily life.
We hope the great love witnessed by the era of micro media can contribute to the supervision of charitable donations, to the comfort brought by psychological intervention, and to the reconstruction of the areas. We also hope it will become the positive energy that prompts China to go on moving forward.
