Helicopters drop tons of supplies

THE PLA Air Force carried out its first airdrop operations in quake-hit southwest China yesterday, delivering food and water for thousands of homeless survivors.

Two helicopters loaded with bottled water, instant noodles and other food took off from Qionglai Airport for Baosheng township.

The supplies carried by the helicopters weighed 2.6 tons, Air Force sources said.
