STRENGTHENING FRIENDSHIP, BOOSTING MUTUAL TRUST

Applauding the development of bilateral ties between China and the three nations, Jia told the three nations' leaders that his country attached great importance to developing relationships with their nations.

China was willing to continue high-level exchanges, enhancing political mutual trust, promoting pragmatic cooperation, intensifying people-to-people exchanges and strengthening coordination on world and regional issues with them, so as to boost the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral ties, Jia said.

When meeting with parliament leaders of the three nations, Jia said the CPPCC, an important part of China's politics, was willing to maintain communication with its counterparts at various levels and through all channels so as to promote mutual understanding, broaden consensus and contribute to the development of bilateral relations.

In Italy, Jia said China and Italy were traditional friends. The two sides adhered to the principle of mutual understanding, respecting each other on issues of core concerns.

The two countries, both at a new stage of socioeconomic development, had the will and confidence to further cement bilateral ties, Jia said, urging the two sides to expand and deepen their cooperation in various fields.

He also expressed hope Italy, as an important European Union (EU) member, could contribute more to the sound and healthy development of EU-China relations.

For their part, the Italian leaders said they had reached a consensus to develop closer ties with China, pledging to continue promoting the in-depth development of Italy-China and EU-China ties.

In Costa Rica, Jia said he believed China and Costa Rica could set an example for cooperation between countries of different size and national situation, while Costa Rican leaders expressed willingness to make joint efforts with China to deepen friendship and enhance communication and cooperation.

In Argentina, Jia said, as both China and Argentina were developing countries and emerging markets, it was of great significance for them to promote the comprehensive and in-depth strategic partnership in the new global environment. He called on both sides to cooperate closely in a bid to safeguard the interests of developing nations.

The Argentine leaders said it was in the interests of the two countries to further strengthen the bilateral strategic partnership, adding Argentina would continue to adhere to the one-China policy and hoped to further expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields and strengthen coordination on multilateral issues.
