Car brands play strong suits to recapture market (2)

By Jia Xinguang (Global Times)

Of course, Japan's largest car companies did not climb to global prominence without learning a thing or two about customer behavior along the way. Despite wide public animosity, these firms never wavered on their commitment to delivering excellent quality products and top notch service, which are ultimately what most drivers are looking for when they go car shopping.

As the political tensions between China and Japan subside, the desire to display one's patriotism is once again taking a back seat to value for money for many local car buyers. Indeed, now that the more vehement outcries against Japan and Japanese businesses have largely faded away, Chinese customers are showing that they are just as eager to buy Japanese cars as they were in the past.

Despite some recent bumps in the road, Japanese automakers have proved that they are ready to meet the needs of Chinese consumers over the long run with their efficient, safe and inexpensive vehicles.

Based on an interview with Jia Xinguang, an independent commentator on the auto industry.
