Shengshi Huange, a cultural events organizer, does not belong to the ministry, said Zhou.

Qiu Jinlin, the head of the business development department with the Institute of Mass Music of China, accused Shengshi Huange of claiming the institute was the main host of the event.

"We're not the main host or co-organizer, we're just the assistant organizer," said Qiu.

Qiu claimed they were not informed of any further information about the contest after Shengshi Huange got their permission to help organize the contest.

"When we learnt of the incident on Sunday, even we couldn't contact Shengshi Huange," said Qiu.

However, an employee, surnamed Zhao, from Shengshi Huange said there had been no deliberate deception.

"We have official documents to prove that those host names are not written incorrectly," said Zhao.
