According to Wu, the class is not open to those without majors in weaponry, stating that guns, loaded or not, should never be pointed at anybody. The guns were not permitted outside the classroom and students could only handle the weapons under the teacher's strict supervision.

He points out that the class provides a rare occasion for students to gain first-hand experience in handling weaponry and that he helps the students re-assemble weapon parts.
