"Thus, the rearmament program of the Strategic Rocket Forces with Topol-M system will be completed," Karakayev said.
Topol-M is a 47-ton solid-fuel missile capable to deliver 800 kiloton nuclear warhead at the range of 10,000 km. Yars is 36-ton missile with the range of 11,000 km.
Earlier this year, Russian Defense Ministry gave a green light to the creation of a new-generation heavy intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) to replace the world's largest missile RS-20V Voyevoda.
The 211-ton Voyevoda capable to carry ten 750-kiloton nuclear devices would be gradually replaced by a new ICBM until 2026. Currently, Russia has 58 missiles of that class in service.
Moscow allocated 20 trillion rubles (over 600 billion U.S. dollars) for a massive upgrade of the Armed Forces until 2020.
