Me and China: A melody of China for the world to hear

In 2005, Mark Levine came to Huai'an, east China's Jiangsu Province, from the United States to teach English at Huaiyin Normal University. He had planned to stay for just a year, but was soon captivated by the city's vitality and the optimism of its people. An impromptu performance on campus inspired him to tell his China story through music.

His journey took him from Huai'an to Beijing, and from the classroom to the stage. While teaching at Minzu University of China, he turned the people, places and experiences he encountered into songs. In 2007, he met Fu Han, and their shared passion for music led them to form the band "In Side Out," blending guitar and erhu in a distinctive fusion of Chinese and Western musical traditions.

Over the past two decades, Levine has written numerous songs, capturing his affection for China's landscapes, countryside, people and everyday life. Through his music, he shares with audiences around the world the vibrant China he has come to know and love.
