China exported a total of 97 million televisions in 2018 despite escalations in global trade friction, growing 21 percent, said Peng Jianfeng, deputy secretary general of the China Video Industry Network on Jan. 17.
47.7 million televisions were also sold domestically last year, up 0.5 percent year on year, Peng noted.
According to All View Cloud (AVC), a service provider of big data smart home solutions, China produced 160 million televisions in 2018, accounting for 70 percent of global shipments.
Although the country saw a slight increase in domestic sales, the turnover of TV retail sales still dropped by 8.6 percent.
Prices of major TV products also fell in 2018, resulting in a decreasing profit margin and surging pressure for enterprises, said Zhu Yuanyuan, head of the electronic products business division of the AVC.
However, she believes that the TV market will bounce back as measures to promote sales of home appliances roll out in 2019.
