Two Chinese Airlines Top 2017 World’s Airline Safety Ranking

(People's Daily Online)    06:15, January 05, 2017

Cathay Pacific Airways and Hainan Airlines top the 2017 Airline Safety Ranking published by the Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre (JACDEC). JACDEC is a global source for professional and accurate aviation safety information. The 2017 Airline Safety Ranking is based on the safety performance of world's top 60 airlines in 2016.

This is the second time that Cathay Pacific Airway has been listed as the safest airline in the world since 2016. It is followed by Air New Zealand and Hainan Airline.

JACDEC developed the JACDEC safety index, a probabilistic measurement of past airline safety, in 2002. The index is based on aviation accident analysis and a variety of official sources over the last 30 years, and now it has been one of the best instruments for comparing the safety status of airlines in the world.
