Follow Xi|Why we remember

Sept. 30, 2026, marks China's 13th Martyrs' Day. Why do we remember? From testimonies of survivors of the Nanjing Massacre and the Bombing of Chongqing, to the recollections of war veterans, the dedication of grave guardians and the solemn gaze of visitors at memorial halls, individual memories come together to form a shared historical memory.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has said, "For those who have offered their precious lives for the country, the Chinese nationality and peace, we will forever remember their sacrifice and contribution, no matter how times change."

Remember history, honor fallen heroes, cherish peace, and create a better future. Today, we still remember.
