China Coast Guard vessels depart for fisheries patrols in North Pacific

BEIJING, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Two China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels departed from the east China city of Qingdao in Shandong Province on Monday for a 45-day high seas fisheries law enforcement patrol in the North Pacific, the service announced.

During the deployment, the CCG will carry out comprehensive law enforcement inspections in compliance with relevant international conventions and agreements.

The fleet will combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, according to the CCG announcement. It added that the mission seeks to earnestly uphold the fishery production order on the high seas and promote the sustainable development of fishery resources.

The patrol aims to fulfill obligations under international conventions, and fully demonstrates China's commitment as a major country to actively participating in global ocean governance and conserving high seas fishery resources, the CCG said.
