China continues to firmly support Cuba in opposing external interference: foreign ministry

BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- China will continue to firmly support Cuba in safeguarding its national sovereignty and opposing external interference, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson said on Thursday.

Spokesperson Lin Jian made the remarks at a daily press briefing in response to reports that senior officials of the United States Department of Defense have studied the possibility of launching military operations against Cuba recently.

The United States should immediately cease any form of military threat and blockade against Cuba, Lin added.
