Pakistan reviews preparations for SCO summit during upcoming chairmanship
ISLAMABAD, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the country's upcoming chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), his office said.
The meeting assessed progress on arrangements for Pakistan's role as chair of the SCO Council of Heads of State for 2026-27, including early planning for hosting the leaders' summit in 2027.
Dar directed all relevant ministries and departments to ensure comprehensive planning and close coordination to facilitate the successful organization of the summit.
He said Pakistan attaches high importance to the SCO framework, adding that the chairmanship reflects the country's commitment to promoting regional cooperation, connectivity, and multilateral engagement.
The deputy prime minister also emphasized timely execution, effective inter-agency coordination, and maintaining high standards in both logistical and substantive preparations.
