6 dead in road accident in north India

NEW DELHI, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Six persons belonging to the same family died and two were seriously injured in an accident in north India, confirmed a local cop on Thursday.

The accident had occurred in the Orai area of the country's northern state of Uttar Pradesh, on Wednesday. The victims were traveling in a small SUV towards Bengaluru, the capital city of southern state of Karnataka.

According to one of the survivors, the accident occurred because the SUV driver dozed off. The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
