Visitor arrivals in Macao soar 312.5 pct on year in September

MACAO, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Visitor arrivals in China's Macao soared by 312.5 percent year on year to 2,301,056 in September, the Macao Special Administrative Region's (SAR) statistical agency said on Tuesday.

However, the figure represented a drop of 28.6 percent month-on-month, showed the latest report from the Statistics and Census Service.

Overnight visitors and same-day visitors leapt by 317.3 percent and 307.7 percent year on year to 1,169,471 and 1,131,585, respectively.

The number of visitors from the Chinese mainland jumped by 216.2 percent year on year to 1,589,423, while visitors from China's Hong Kong SAR and Taiwan region rocketed by 1,058.0 percent and 665.8 percent year on year to 534,755 and 50,660, respectively.
