Ambassador Xie Feng presents Letter of Credence to US President Joe Biden
US President Joe Biden accepted the Letter of Credence of China's new Ambassador to the United States, Xie Feng, at the Oval Office of the White House in Washington on Friday.
Biden welcomed Xie to his new post, and the two talked about the China-US relationship, according to a press release from the Chinese embassy.
Xie, who arrived in the United States on May 23, said that his appointment as the 12th Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the US means to him not only honor, but also enormous responsibilities.
He said that in November 2022, China's President Xi Jinping and Biden had a successful meeting in Bali and reached important common understandings. China follows the three principles put forward by President Xi, namely, mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.
The envoy expressed the hope that the US side will work with China in the same direction, earnestly act on the common understandings reached between the two presidents, and explore the right way for the two countries to get along in the new era, so as to stabilize and bring the China-US relationship back to the right track.
