25th Shanghai Int'l Film Festival to open on June 9
SHANGHAI, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The 25th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) is scheduled to begin on June 9, the organizer announced on Tuesday.
According to the schedule, the Golden Goblet Awards Ceremony will be held at the Shanghai Grand Theater on the evening of June 17, while the city-wide screening event will add the finishing touch to the Festival on June 18.
SIFF is the only international competitive feature film festival accredited by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations in China, and it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Postponed for a year due to the epidemic, SIFF will be making a full return in 2023.
This year's Golden Goblet Awards consists of five competition categories: feature-length films, new Asian talent, documentaries, animations and short films.
The call for entries was launched worldwide late last year, with a submission deadline of March 31. Nearly 8,800 entries from over 128 countries and regions have been received.
There will be more than 10 forums at this year's SIFF, touching upon topics such as international cooperation, film education innovation, the integration of technology and film, and science fiction films.
Founded in 1993, SIFF is a competitive global event driven by Shanghai's efforts to become an international cultural hub.
