“Beyond The Headlines -The Real Story of Australia-China Trade” examines the intricacies of the China-Australia trade partnership through the lens of culture, relationships, and the geo-historical context, in order to shed light on stereotypes and misnomers and in doing so uncovers the next wave of opportunity and the new frontiers of engagement. As a 6 part TV series, each episode will discuss the question from different perspectives, but they will all present pathways for investors and cross-border trade. What's more, every episode will reveal the essence of China-Australia trade——relationships and the people themselves.

In the second episode “A Question of Building Bridges”, the story discussed what can be achieved through cultural exchange, especially using sports and art as bridges between China and Australia. Taking Australia's Port Adelaide power club as an example, they are in a business of building friendship and strengthen bilateral relations rather than just playing games. There are lots of business to business opportunities surrounding the game itself. This is a good showcase of how sporting organizations can be exporters into China and to build links between the countries. In addition, art also plays a huge part in connecting China and Australia. In this episode, the association of Chinese ballet companies and the Australian Ballet showed how art helps connect sponsorship partners across borders.
