Deeper global integration has brought China not only much needed resources and commodities, but also some special “goods” in the form of garbage. From June to September 2016, Shenzhen customs intercepted a total of 1,046 tons of discarded clothing, which has since been piling up in a waste incineration power plant, waiting to be destroyed. This is Shenzhen's largest case of solid waste yet. The suspects have been imprisoned, and currently await further investigation.
