Around noon on Oct. 23, a woman in Chongqing climbed onto a 17th-floor terrace and sent video footage of her cutting her wrists to all her contacts. Fortunately for the woman, she was saved by firefighters before her suicide plan could succeed. Nevertheless, she was emotionally unstable, throwing a variety of objects at her hand when the rescuers arrived. The woman's friends and acquaintances speculated that her suicide attempt was a response to recent heartbreak, and that she really only wished her ex-husband would show up for her.

The rescuers nevertheless made a plan to save the woman. To prevent her from falling off the terrace, an experienced firefighter was equipped with rope and stationed by the window in case of emergency.
