Gao Zhiyu, an 11-year-old student with no legs, begins a new school year at Chengnan Elementary School in Jimo City, Shandong Province. He lost his legs in a car accident during the summer break four years ago. He used his long stay in the hospital to study and after his recovery his father gave him new "legs" made out of wood. Four years later, Zhiyu's hard work and persistence has paid off. Today he ranks in the top 5 percent of his class.(Photo/Xinhua)
