Some students have complained that even though they have received an admission letter from Guangxi Secondary Vocational School for Technology and Business in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, they were told the school was full when they arrived for registration, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The school responded that it sent more than 2000 admission letters but can accommodate only 900 students. This year more than 1000 students came to register. Those who came late will be recommended to other vocational schools.
A staff member in charge of enrollment at Guangxi Secondary said once a student contacts with the school, an admission notice is sent to the student. It is quite common that a junior student can receive several admission letters.
Staff from the municipal education bureau of Guangxi's capital city Nanning further explained that since a junior student can choose only one school from the several admission letters, schools will send more letters than can be accommodated to avoid enrollment vacancy. The practice is based on rules of the Guangxi Education Bureau. Except for a few majors that need certain grades for eligibility, all secondary vocational schools in Guangxi will enroll students according to their registration date until the enrollment is full.
