At the age of 70, a man surnamed Peng has attracted a great deal of attention for his steep requirements at a matchmaking event held in Wuhan, Hubei province on Aug. 7.

"I am 70 years old. I am here to find a life partner!" Peng excitedly told a reporter at the event. Peng said that he is a native of Wuhan, and he has never married or even fallen in love. "I dedicated my youth to scientific research for good of the country," he explained.

Peng graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University. As a senior computer engineer, he has spent 37 years as a researcher in the industry. He also founded the computer center of a chemical engineering company. Now, in his seventh decade of life, he hopes to settle down with a beautiful woman under the age of 38.

The matchmaking event, now in its 11th year, attracted thousands of singles to attend. Attendees crowded in front a wall on which participants' information--name, age, height, ethnicity, education, income, contact information and requirements for a partner--continuously scrolled.
