A female tourist from Chinese mainland was arrested in the Los Angeles International Airport for slapping a female vendor across the face in one of the airport's tax-free stores, reported AFP. The incident occurred on July 28.
The woman intended to return to Shanghai on a China Eastern flight, but she was instead arrested by Los Angeles police for her role in the attack. Her flight was delayed for over an hour due to the incident, affecting around 300 travelers.
AFP reported that the woman first argued with the saleswoman, and then slapped the saleswoman twice. Other store employees quickly controlled the situation and called police.
Since her arrest, the woman has been transferred to a temporary detention center on charges of assault. Further investigation is underway.
Since Feb. 1, Chinese authorities have begun registering the uncivilized behavior of travelers. Those who get into fights in airports or on planes have their acts officially registered in Chinese customs offices and police stations.
