A woman lived in Dali, a city in southwest China’s Yunnan province, has been targeted for harassment that lasted for seven months. To protect herself, she installed surveillance cameras near her door and captured horrifying footage that shows a disguised “ghost” smearing feces on her door.
The woman, surnamed Yang, said the harassment first began in January 2016, with her door’s key hole blocked for several times. She at first thought it was merely prank until feces and urine were found left at her door.
Yang posted the video online, which immediately went viral and sparked outcry. Yang said she was unaware of the reason why she was chosen and targeted to.
Police in Dali detained a 43-year-old man who lived next door to Yang that is allegedly the suspect that has been harassing Yang in the last seven months. The man said he believed his neighbors were making noises to keep him from falling asleep, hence the conducts.
The Dali police will detain the man for 20 days.
