An ongoing drought continues to plague the city of Weifang in eastern China's Shandong province. At present, seven of the city's reservoirs have dried up, and another five are running very low. Grass is growing at the bottom of the dry reservoirs, giving them the appearance of a grassland.
Currently, there are just 193 million cubic meters of water stored in the city's 26 reservoirs, which is 102 million cubic meters fewer than in the same period last year. The difference is even starker in previous seasons; this year's amount marks a drop of 803 million cubic meters from the same period in 2013, down from that year's total storage of 996 million cubic meters.
