A Chinese national is among 8 people injured in a grenade attack early Tuesday morning in a bar in Malaysia.

The attack occurred in a town on the outskirts of the capital, Kuala Lumpur, while people were gathered to watch the Euro 2016 football tournament.

Malaysian officials have been quick to discount terrorism, saying instead the attack appears to have been an attempt specifically on someone's life.

However, an exact motive for the attack has not been provided.

None of the people injured, including the Chinese national, are suffering from life-threatening injuries.
