HARBIN, June 24 -- Nine people have died and 13 sustained injuries after a truck collided head-on with a minivan on a rural road in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province Friday morning.

All of the casualties were in the minivan, which was carrying 22 people, when the accident happened at 9 a.m. in Tangyuan County.

Police have detained the truck driver, identified only by his surname Liu. An investigation is underway.
